Medicine collection drive

I founded and led a medical drive in my neighborhood, focusing on the collection of unused medicines from homes and buildings to donate to NGOs and old age homes. This initiative was driven by the dual objective of reducing waste and ensuring essential medications reach those in need. The collected medicines were donated to the House of Charity, Versova; Leprosy House, Versova; and Thoralya Maasaheb Jijua Seva Sanstha in Nashik, each housing around 300 elderly residents.

Throughout the drive, I developed a solid understanding of the chemical composition of various over-the-counter medications and learned to identify common treatments for conditions such as pain, fever, cold, cough, diarrhea, acid reflux, and migraine. This practical exposure gave me deeper insights into the healthcare challenges faced by elderly communities and the critical role of medication access.

To date, the drive has successfully donated medications worth INR 50,000, providing relief to hundreds of elderly individuals. This project is still ongoing, with plans to expand beyond collection and donation. I aim to implement a sustainable system for the safe disposal and management of hazardous medical waste to prevent environmental contamination.

Through this initiative, I have gained valuable leadership experience, learned the importance of community collaboration, and recognized the potential impact of small-scale efforts in solving pressing social issues. The success of this drive encourages me to explore new ways to combine healthcare and environmental solutions for long-term community welfare.
